First Post!

It’s about time that I started my own blog again– I had one years ago when I moved to New York, and now that some big life changes are coming around, I thought I would start another. Mostly I will be showing off my craft projects, letting you know about interesting things, and generally musing on life. I hope you’ll enjoy it, and don’t be shy about commenting!

To get started, here’s a photo of a dress I made last weekend.  It’s loosely based off Simplicity 3778. I changed some of the pieces to conserve fabric, nixed the zipper in favor of a little slit and button in the back yoke, and I added a little tie for fun. I’ve been slowly learning to sew over the past six months or so, and I have plans for plenty more projects on the way.

This weekend I’m working on some magazine projects (which I can’t share until they’re published).  Oh, and cleaning, since my mom is coming to visit. Eeep!

  • Hooray, you're blogging!

  • yay! another blog to add to my list of daily reads. i met you in NY at Lotta's! so good to see what you're up to and making, love that dress.

  • i have those shoes! mine started to wear out around the toes after a particularly long walk one night. but i'm still wearing 'em!

erin- i would have told you eventually I figured I was practically blogging on Flickr so I might as well blog here. I have found that sewing for myself is not as intimidating as people make it out to be– but i do tend to like flowy things- so that makes it a bit easier! Give it a shot with one of those quick-and-easy type patterns, and make sure someone measures you– I bet you’d end up with something amazing.

natalie-- thanks! i am always browsing/lurking at your blog. i just have to back away from the internet before i go broke!

  • Love the dress! I added you to my Coquette blog roll now too. Can't wait to see what else you make. xoxo
