Yesterday I felted some rocks just for the heck of it. I was felting something else, something to be revealed later, and I already had all the materials so I knew I had to try it when I saw this tutorial. And a good tutorial it was! I had a couple of problems, mainly smacking on too much felt at once, and then, having my pantyhose rip in the washer so that the rocks slid out. I only lost two rocks that way, though, and I still got a felted hollow pebble, so yay.

I put them through twice which is, I think, what made them shrink so much that the rock peeked through, but I actually kind of like it, so  yay. For now they are doing nothing but sitting outside, probably making my neighbors/landlords wonder “Is she going to ruin our washer?”. Hah. I’m pleased to report that nothing was ruined and also, our washer agitates like mad.

In other blatant self promotional news, I’ve added five new hats to the shop (including the one above). These puppies are lined with a 3″ wide band of fleece (hand-sewn) so that you can be nice and cozy (and non itchy, if you’re wool intolerant, like myself), so they are a couple of bucks more. But worth it, I think, they feel so warm and soft. WIth every batch I have  my favorites that I want to keep so eventually I’m going to have to make one for ME. Sometimes it’s hard to do that when I am hoping to sell them, though. Oh, and right now there’s a special in the store– free flower pin with any hat (or scarflet) purchase. I’ll choose the pin, and look for something that goes with your hat if I’ve got it. There are lots of flowers around these parts.
