Big Button Challenge

I’ve been on a recycling/use what you have kick lately, so when Lisa asked me to participate in her Big Button Challenge I knew it’d be a fun way to play around with my stash, yet again. For me the hardest part was figuring out how to use just one of her pretty buttons. Having just started toting all of my projects to work and back, here’s what I came up with: a yarn cozy.

button3

It’s made from the leg of one of my old pairs of jeans and a lot of scraps from my stash to coordinate with the button. The idea is that I can put the yarn (it’s big enough for 2 cakes of yarn) inside and button the leg closed so that I can place the yarn on the floor while I’m working with it– without it getting dirty or tangled.

button2

I love the way the inside looks and sometimes I’m a little sad that it’s not the outside. But then again, sometimes it’s fun to keep the little details to yourself. I’m really impressed with the button and I am quite impressed with the other entries too. And bravo to Lisa for thinking of the contest, what a great way to show off your buttons!

Great idea. I've tons of jeans. Myabe I can make some of these as Christmas pressies. Or for the ladies at retreat next year. Hmmm. How tall is the yarn container? I love the patchwork inside -it is a delicious surprise. The button is beautifully "showed" off.

  • Such a clever idea! Love it!

  • Did you see that you've been quoted on Polka Dot Cottage? Cool beans!

  • That is so great! I'm working on my button challenge project today and yours is very inspiring.

  • Cute idea to make a yarn cozy AND to use a pant leg from old jeans! You are so clever and creative!
