CraftStylish Roundup/Update

If you pop over to Craftstylish regularly, you might have noticed this post about Restyling Craftstylish. In short, it means that they didn’t renew any blogger contracts at the end of May (including mine). Which for me means a money crunch– so you all better buy my book when it comes out in August! I’m kidding– but yes, please do. Although I know that everything will work out, it is sad to see my one regular paycheck disappear. Would you believe that I’ve been posting there since April 2008– 3 times a week, every week? That means I have at least 52 tutorials up, and even though I always worried that I’d run out of ideas, I always found something to write about.

Since  ideas are still running around in my head,  I will still be posting over there occasionally, but I wanted to let you know what was happening. and why there won’t be as many updates from me and the other bloggers. The plethora of great how-tos remains at the site, though, so I hope you’ll still check in.

While we’re on the subject, let’s take a tour of some of my projects from May. The theme was celebrations/DIY Weddings.

craftstylish projects- may 09

Above is my paper flower bouquet- I was really impressed with how easy these flowers were to make and how pretty they were, considering they were made with crepe paper. When I was styling the “finished” photo I spotted this ball of yarn and knew it was destined to be the vase. I really love this project.

And here’s a sweet little crochet/beading combination: a bridal necklace. Of course, you do not have to be a bride to make or wear this necklace– try it in a bright color for every day appeal!

My final project forMay was this gnome place card holder. Here I was just having fun with my cupcake toppers and styrofoam balls because there are only so many DIY Bride projects that I can think of in one month. But worry not- two more bride/wedding posts are on their way from me in June. I just raided the silk flower section of the craft store this weekend to prepare myself for the challenge.

If you’d like to see more of my tutorials and posts, check ‘em out right here.

  • That sucks about CraftStylish. Poopersnickles. On a lighter note I love the gnome place card holder. I used the same gnome in a shadow box picture frame on my blog today. I need to do a gnomes craft round up!

I'm sorry to hear about your contract not being renewed, that's such a shame :(

I too will be without pay-check at the end of June, so get how you feel, good luck though :D

  • Oh, this is so sad. So sorry to hear this. I suppose this is another result of the recession. I am trying very hard to stay positive that things will improve, soon. Your projects are so lovely and it's a shame that it will not be available at Craftstylish anymore. At least we still have your blog to visit. Have a great week!

  • I'm so bummed to learn about this but happy that the tutorials will stay up and live on. Here's to many new projects!
