My First Yarn

Here’s a photo of the yarn I spun after Fiber Day on my drop spindle, all washed and ready to be knit into something. I say knit because there’s not that much of it, and I’ll probably get a bit more out of it if I knit it.

my first yarn

So far I have no plans for what this will be (perhaps a hat?) but I like to look at it all the same. I loved the little color surprises in this roving (by Snake River Fibers, which, as far as I know, have no website)- the red and black bits were welcome surprises.

my first yarn

I have a couple of new bags of really nice fibers that I got from Robyn Chachula (I won her blog contest) but I think they will have to wait a while. I am starting on another big work/crafty project, so you can expect things to slow down a bit over here in the next few months. But I will still be around–hopefully at least twice a week!

That came out gorgeous. Excellent jobs on the colors. Can't wait to see what you make with it. It's calling out for trim on some gloves but I think that's because I would want to stretch it out over as many projects as possible.

  • I think a trivet or table mat of some sort would be lovely. I'd want a chunk of that on my coffee table all the time! It's beautiful.

  • Congratulations, Linda! Love the colours. I am into hats and bags right now, so a hat gets my vote!

  • I have always wanted to try spinning my own yarn. Was it hard? This yarn is so lovely. Looks like it would be soft and warm for mittens too.

  • That looks lovely and soft! Well done!
