Hello! I stumbled into your blog while looking for an old stitch my grandmother used to make a little red bag that my mother still has. What a treat to solve the mystery of the stitch! And your scarf is done in the same color as my grandmother's/mother's red bag. I am thrilled you had a photo! I sent a copy of your dad's red scarf to my mother so she could have a look. Over all these years, Mom thought that my Gram knit the bag. It's not knit at all. gram could crochet AND knit!! Anyway, I blogged about my decades long mystery and used your photo to compare with my Gram's bag. Thanks gain for posting a photo that helped me solve the mystery.

Love the scarf! The hat looks rather complicated though. How sad that you are allergic to wool. Since I do a lot of felting, I would just hate not buying wool. I have also just crocheted a nice hat, in preparation for a visit to Chicago in March) and am busy knitting a cute, and very easy, Mobius in purple. Most days I want to knit, crochet and sew, all at the same time. Deciding takes forever and then I end up doing nothing! Very annoying.

I just recently bought your book at my friend's store. I have read most of it but only made one flower out of it to put on a hat that I made for my baby.

Currently I am working on learning to knit. I have spent so much time with a hook in my hand that the knitting needles feel weird, but I like it so far.

Sorry about the allergy! I love wool...i can't wear hats or scarves with acrylic though, they just start to itch like crazy after a few minutes. I have mostly been working with cotton because I feel they are soft for my baby to wear.

While I'm tempted to try the hat, I think I'll finish my crochet projects first and try it again later on. I've made afghans for 2 friends and am going to try backing with abstract cotton design. I'm now working on the top in Crochet Adorned (my new fave book)that attaches to the fabric. I'm so excited I practiced for a few nights to adjust tension and decided to do the top in off white cotton. Lovin it!

I picked up my knitting needles (I finally bought some bamboo needles which make knitting so much more therapeutic) and knitting a little coin purse in fluffy grey wool in stockinette stich, nothing fancy but a small project that helped quench a need to knit again, I added one of your crochet birds to the coin purse, which turned it from ordinary to very special, i love just holding it, i keep my cell phone in it...still learning how to knit, my current project are some fingerless gloves in double moss stitch, which after some tears is looking v pretty and hopefully will be done by Sunday, yay.
On the crochet front, my biggest project to date is a roomy ripple bag in my favourite colours - its similar to the munro bag on ravelry but bigger. I'm making it to fit my laptop and travel essentials so that I can always have some colour when I'm on my way somewhere, x

I'm not sure if I'm allergic to wool or if my dry skin just gets itchy easily. At any rate I use very little wool. One exception-right now I'm making socks out of Deborah Norville's Serenity sock weight yarn. It's 50% Merino Superwash, 25% bamboo, and 25% nylon. It's very soft so it'll be a good test to see where it's an allergy or just itchy dry skin. I do know I can't be near mohair and angora. Hopefully wool isn't added to that list.

Oooo love the finished objects Linda! I too have become terribly allergic to wool. If I even touch it my hand starts itching. Yuck. So I too have been purchasing either cotton or an acrylic yarn. I know that some people think acrylic is a dirty word but sometimes you don't have a choice. Currently I'm working on some red scarves for Women's Heart month and some valentine stuff.
