In Case You Missed the Missoni Madness

I couldn’t help it, I had to go to Target today to see what was in their new Go collection by Missoni. I got there at noon, and there were just a few sweaters and coats left, most likely because it’s 101 degrees outside here. I found a bit more at the discarded dressing room rack, but realized I didn’t really need any of it. I went to another Target after dinner, just for kicks, and found a similar ransacking, with only children’s items still available. I actually liked those colors better, but they obviously wouldn’t fit me.

But that’s okay, we crocheters and knitters know all about the ripple, and can use much softer yarns to make our own handknits, no? Might I suggest my Stellar Beret pattern in place of this cute beret from the collection? Just add a pom pom.

Or for your tot, the Hooded Capelet from Little Crochet would make a fine substitute for this Poncho Sweater.

Search Ravelry for words like zigzag, chevron, and ripple, and you’ll be well on your way towards this season’s trend. Plus you can use durable, touchably soft yarn and experience the joy of having made it yourself. I’ve been meaning to start another Chevron Lace Cardigan (in stripes, this time) for ages now…If only there weren’t so many skeins in line ahead of my free time.

Preciosos tu gorrito y el poncho!!

  • You know, I stepped into Target a couple of weeks ago and immediately thought of your Hooded Capelet when I saw their poncho sweater...I couldn't bring myself to buy their expensive stuff (though it's in my favorite colorway). How could I buy it when I could make it and that would be so much more gratifying!? Thanks for your wonderful patterns Linda!

when I saw that commercial I said to my self that is just a ripple or chevron. what is new with that?
seems like the emperors new cloths kind of thing.
but I do agree with everyone else. Your patterns rock.

  • Your stuff beats Missoni any day--so much cuter!

Linda, Your patterns are definitely cuter. Making the capelet now for my little girl and hoping my skills are the necessary level of intermediate. You rock!
