WIPs and Winners

Sorry, I have been totally slacking at posting the winners of my Knitcircus giveaway. I ended up choosing 5 winners, because, well, your answers were so fun.  I chose Andi, Lorraine, Fiona, Jenny and Adrianne–and already sent out emails.

sumire shawl

This week I have been busy trying to make a weekend in the middle of the week. It’s a tough thing to do when the rest of the world seems to work on another schedule, but, I did a decent job of it, I think!  I don’t have a lot to report but wanted to show you some gratuitous photos of this Sumire’s Shawl that I started last week. I bought the pattern (by Joyce YuLian Yu) on Ravelry and I love how quickly it is going. The interesting thing about this shawl is that it is worked from point to point (starting at the side edge) in rows, and then every fourth row, you do some short rows to create the edging as you go along. So when you’re done, you’re done!

Sumire Shawl

The pattern calls for Malabrigo Lace but I’m using one skein of Malabrigo Sock in Turner to make mine. I’m a little worried that it will come out small, but hopeful that blocking it will stretch it out. Either way, I’ll live with the outcome. I love the colorway and it has drawn many compliments at Yarnivore. It might be a while before I get back to it as I have quite a few designs on my plate, but I like knowing that it’s waiting for me.

Happy “real” weekend to you and Happy Crocheting!

This is just lovely.  It's such an unusual color combination, and truly beautiful.  Enjoy wearing it!

    Hi Linda,
I have a question about the Sock Ochre you are using for this project.  When I went to Malabrigo to look at all their color options, it it showing the Ochre as a solid color and it appears that your yarn here is multicolored.  I love the multicolor pattern of your yarn.  Is there another option for the Ochre or am I missing something at their site.  I made sure I was looking at the sock yarn as well, and not the Lace line.  Thanks so much.

I just emailed you-- I made a mistake and the colorway is actually called Turner (oops! I kept thinking of the ochre yellows within!).

Thank you so much Linda!  I thought I was losing it.  I just love those colors.  I am in love with your shawl.  I hope it turns out big enough for you.  <3

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I hardly ever win anything! I'm so excited to get started on several of the patterns but my daughter has already told me she wants the Lace Slouch Hat first. I'm going to get started by making it this weekend!
